...about dying matters. This collaboration with animator and illustrator Gabriella Marsh explores how language shapes the way we understand, cope with, and accept death. 

After interviewing a palliative care doctor, a recently bereaved person, and someone experiencing a terminal illness, I composed a score to bring their three stories together before approaching Gabriella with the aim of visualising the some of the English language's many euphemisms for death. Her beautifully fluid and expressive hand-drawn animation, playfully dancing between the abstract and the concrete, perfectly brings the contributors’ insights to life.
